World No. 4 Canada and No. 5 Australia will meet tomorrow, 16 July, in the bronze medal match of the 2017 WBSC Men’s Softball World Championship. The winner will then face No. 1 New Zealand in the world championship gold medal game, whereas the loser will be awarded the bronze.
Sunday will crown the world champion after 75 games of tournament play, which began on 7 July with 16 nations from around the globe.

ROAD TO THE FINALS
New Zealand (6-1) finished atop Pool B to qualify into the Championship Round. In the playoffs, they defeated Australia 6-2 to advance to the semi-final game against Canada.
Canada (7-0) finished atop Pool A, to qualify into the Championship Round. They then defeated No. 2 Japan 2-0 to advance to the Semi-Final game against New Zealand.
Australia (5-2) finished with the 2nd seed in Pool B to qualify into the Championship Round. They then lost to New Zealand 6-2, forcing another game against USA, where they won 11-7 to advance to the Semi-Final game against Argentina.
In the first semi-final game, New Zealand defeated Canada 12-11 to advance to the gold medal game. Canada’s loss pushed them into the bronze medal game.
In the second semi-final game, Australia defeated Argentina 4-1 to face Canada in the bronze medal game.
The 15th Men’s Softball World Championship in Whitehorse has brought together 16 national teams from all five regions, as India and Turkey made their men’s world championship debuts.
